Modern vehicles are full of computer controlled systems to assist with engine management, vehicle stability & driver safety so the modern mechanic makes as much use of technology as he does a spanner & conventional toolkit.
The Southport Mechanic has invested many thousands of pounds in equipment able to read vehicle fault codes (OBDII), reset service indicators and adjust the onboard systems as necessary.
A modern car may have 10, 20 or even more individual microprocessor units around the chassis and these constantly adjust the car’s performance – that’s great, but they also mask any symptoms of developing problems by constantly adjusting right upto the point of failure.
Wheras an older car might have developed a stutter or misfire that gave ample warning, now you may simply see the dreaded engine management warning light. The car may go into ‘limp home’ mode in which case, The Southport Mechanic can read the fault codes and help fix the underlying problem.
But it also makes a lot of sense to have the onboard diagnostic systems checked every once in a while to make sure that there’s no errors slowly accumulating, warnings of problems ahead.
So ask the Sothport Mechanic about a preventative diagnostic health check – on its own or as part of your service.
